Central Calaveras Fire and Rescue

Butte Fire update regarding
Central Calaveras Fire and Rescue Protection District (CCFRPD) Personnel

Eleven out of the forty members of CCFRPD have lost their homes while working on this devastating fire.  A fund has been set up to help them so that they can get back on their feet again and continue to protect and serve the CCFRPD area.
Central Calaveras Fire (Central Fire) is a primarily volunteer department.  With one paid Fire Captain, one paid Administrative Assistant and a part time paid Fire Chief. Central Fire depends on its volunteers to staff and respond to calls in our large district.
Not only do these hard working volunteers need and deserve the help, we all really need to make sure they stay in the area. The fire may be almost over but all of us still need a fire department - especially one this experienced and dedicated.

Calaveras Fire & Rescue is the principal fire agency in the areas most affected; Glencoe, Rail Road Flat, Mountain Ranch and Sheep Ranch and is the area's only year round fire department.
The following is what a few of our responders were doing when their homes burned:
Patty R. was out on an Engine Thursday working to save homes as well as the fire station on Jesus Maria when her home burned down.
John G. was on a Water Tender working to stop the fire from crossing from Spear B Ranch to El Dorado Ranch when his home burned.
Noel J., a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) member, was working with the crew at Robinson Ranch where CCFRPD had set up its initial staging area.
Mary Jane G. was attending a district board meeting at the station shortly after the fire started and was unable to get back to her home in Glencoe which was among the first to burn down.  She spent the night at another board member's home, Don O., who subsequently lost his home in the early hours of Friday morning.
